Where to Watch England and Scotland at the World Cup in NYC | The Red Lion
If you are in New York for the World Cup and you need somewhere to watch England or Scotland, the search tends to end the same way. You want a pub not a sports bar. Somewhere that opens early, keeps the sound on, and has a room full of people who are genuinely love football. The Red Lion at 151 Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village is that place.
Open since 1984, the official NYC home of Brentford FC, and the bar that has been showing Premier League and Champions League football every week for years. The Red Lion is a proper British pub in Manhattan. This summer it is also the best base in New York City for following England and Scotland through the World Cup.
England fixtures — dates, times and where to watch in NYC
England are in Group L alongside Croatia, Ghana and Panama.
Here is their full group stage schedule with both ET and BST times:
June 17 — England vs Croatia | 4:00 PM ET / 9:00 PM BST | AT&T Stadium, Dallas
June 23 — England vs Ghana | 4:00 PM ET / 9:00 PM BST | Gillette Stadium, Boston
June 27 — Panama vs England | 5:00 PM ET / 10:00 PM BST | MetLife Stadium, New Jersey
June 27 is the one to plan around. Panama vs England is at MetLife Stadium — five miles from Bleecker Street — making it the closest England game to Manhattan in the tournament. The Red Lion will have it on every screen with the sound up. Note that June 27 is a Friday, so a cover charge applies on the door.
All three group stage games will be shown in full. If England progress, every knockout fixture goes on screen too. The full World Cup schedule is on the website.
Scotland fixtures — the Tartan Army's World Cup in NYC
Scotland are back at the World Cup for the first time since 1998, a 28-year absence that makes this tournament something different for Scottish fans. They are in Group C alongside Brazil, Morocco and Haiti. All three fixtures are in the eastern United States, which puts New York firmly on the Tartan Army's route.
June 13 — Haiti vs Scotland | 9:00 PM ET / 2:00 AM BST | Gillette Stadium, Boston
June 19 — Scotland vs Morocco | 6:00 PM ET / 11:00 PM BST | Gillette Stadium, Boston
June 24 — Scotland vs Brazil | 6:00 PM ET / 11:00 PM BST | Hard Rock Stadium, Miami
None of Scotland's group games are at MetLife, but New York is the natural hub between Boston and Miami. Scottish fans travelling between fixtures will be in the city, and all three games will be on screen at The Red Lion with the sound on. For a group of Scottish fans looking for a base in Manhattan, there is no better option on Bleecker Street.
A proper British pub in NYC — why it works for England and Scotland fans
Most bars in Manhattan that show football are sports bars first. The World Cup is one more event on a screen alongside baseball and basketball. The Red Lion is not that. It has been showing the Premier League every weekend and Champions League every midweek throughout the season since long before this tournament was announced. The crowd on a big match day is the same crowd that is here every Saturday morning for the 12:30 kickoff local New Yorkers, British and Irish expats, and regulars who know their football.
The Red Lion is the official NYC home of Brentford FC, recognised on the The NYC Bees supporters group has been gathering on Bleecker Street since 2021. That affiliation tells a British fan something important: this is a bar where football actually matters, not one that has put up a few extra screens for a tournament.
Eater NY, Gothamist, and the Mirror have all included The Red Lion in their World Cup 2026 guides for New York City. Average Socialite named it in their tristate area roundup. The Mirror called it one of the best soccer bars in NYC for the World Cup 2026 — and cited the 10+ HD screens as a specific reason.
What to expect on match day
Ten-plus HD screens cover every angle of the bar. Doors open at 11:00 AM on match days. The kitchen runs all day. On tap: The Red Lion's own Amber and Light. Fish and Chips, Shepherd's Pie and the Red Lion Burger are the match day standards. On weekends, Bottomless Brunch runs from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM — unlimited mimosas, Bloody Marys, Aperol Spritz or Red Lion drafts paired with any entree.
Entry is free Sunday through Thursday. A cover charge applies on Fridays, Saturdays and holidays. The June 27 England game is a Friday — factor that in when you are planning.
After the final whistle, three bands play nightly with live music until 4:00 AM. A match day at The Red Lion does not end at full time — which is exactly how a proper British pub should work.
Getting here and getting to MetLife
The Red Lion is at 151 Bleecker Street, Greenwich Village, between Thompson Street and Sullivan Street. The nearest subway is West 4th Street, served by the A, C, E, B, D, F and M lines.
Walk-ins only. For the England game on June 27, arrive earlier than you think you need to.
For fans with tickets to MetLife games, Penn Station is the NJ Transit hub for the stadium. Tara Mor — the group's Irish bar at 150 West 30th Street, one block from Penn Station — is the natural pre-match and post-match stop for the June 27 England game or the July 19 final.
Tara Rose at 384 Third Avenue in Murray Hill has a private downstairs speakeasy available for supporters groups with no venue hire fee and pitcher cocktails from kickoff. tararosenyc.com.
