The Best Happy Hour in the West Village: Where the Deal Doesn't End at 7

Happy Hour at The Red Lion

Four o'clock on a Tuesday. Wings on the bar, a cold pint, and a band setting up on the stage behind you. That is a Tuesday at The Red Lion and it runs that way every weeknight from 4:00 PM through to last call.

Happy hour at 151 Bleecker Street runs Monday through Friday, 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM — draft beer, well drinks, the Red Lion Mule or Margarita, and house wine, all on special. At 7:00 PM, when the deals end, the live music takes over. The music picks up exactly where the happy hour leaves off.

What's On Each Day

Every weeknight has its own food special running alongside the standard happy hour drinks.

Monday — Margherita pizza from 4:00 PM. A band kicks off at 7:00 PM.

Tuesday — Wings night. Buffalo, BBQ, garlic parmesan, Irish spice bag dry rub, or sweet chili — your call, from 4:00 PM.

Wednesday — All pizzas at $10 from 4:00 PM. Margherita, Spicy Pepperoni, BBQ Chicken, flat price.

Thursday — Loaded nachos: melted cheddar, refried beans, guacamole, pico de gallo, sour cream, jalapeños, from 4:00 PM.

Friday — Standard happy hour 4:00 to 7:00 PM into the busiest live music night of the week.

The full food and drinks menu runs alongside the specials every night — these are additions, not substitutions.

From Happy Hour into a Live Music Night

The three-band rotation covers rock, blues, and classic covers — seven nights a week, starting at 7:00 PM. For anyone coming in for the 4:00 PM happy hour, the evening has a natural shape to it: drinks, food, first band. No cover Sunday through Thursday. Cover applies on Fridays, Saturdays, and holidays.

Check who's playing your night before you head in.

Weekend Brunch

Saturday and Sunday swap the weekday format for bottomless brunch — 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, 90 minutes of unlimited mimosas, Bloody Marys, Aperol spritzes, or Red Lion drafts with any entrée. Live music starts at 1:00 PM, so the last stretch of brunch and the first band overlap.

For Groups

Happy hour is a natural group outing — the space handles it, the food specials make the cost manageable, and the live music gives the evening somewhere to go after 7:00 PM. If you are bringing a larger party and want a designated area, the parties page is the place to start. Call 212.260.9797 for anything more immediate.

The Red Lion is at 151 Bleecker Street, steps from Washington Square Park. West 4th Street subway stop is a five-minute walk on the A, C, E, B, D, F, and M lines.
