Over 40 Years of Live Music and Rock Entertainment at The Red Lion | West Village, NYC

Live music at The Red Lion 7 days a week

The Red Lion at 151 Bleecker St has served as the definitive home for West Village live music and rock and roll for over 40 years. Known for our nightly three-band rotation and commitment to authentic hospitality, we offer a full pub menu and live performances daily from 11:00 AM to 4:00 AM.

A Living Legacy on Bleecker Street

Since we first opened our doors four decades ago, The Red Lion has been more than just a a bar on Bleecker Street; it has been a sanctuary for the New York City music scene. While the West Village has undergone countless transformations, from bohemian haunt to a modern cultural hub, our corner has remained a constant. The room carries the hum of forty years of nightly encores, and the air is thick with the history of the legendary musicians who have graced our stage.

For us, 40 years isn't just a milestone, it is a standard. We’ve spent decades perfecting the art of the pour, the acoustics of the room, and the warmth of the welcome. From the regulars who have been visiting since the 80s to the first-time guests looking for the true soul of Manhattan nightlife, every person who walks through our doors is stepping into a lineage of rock and roll that refuses to slow down.

Nightly Ritual Until 4 AM

The stage is the focal point of the Red Lion experience, operating 365 days a year. We curate a nightly lineup that respects the diverse roots of rock, from gritty, soulful blues sets that start the evening to high-energy classic rock covers that keep the room moving until 4:00 AM.

The kitchen mirrors the quality of the stage, serving elevated pub classics and a menu built for the New York appetite. Our Red Lion Burger is a neighborhood staple, featuring a custom-blend Pat LaFrieda beef patty topped with aged cheddar and sweet caramelized onions on a toasted brioche bun. For a signature taste of the house, our Fish & Chips uses fresh Atlantic cod hand-dipped in a Guinness-infused batter, served with house-made tartar sauce and hand-cut fries.

A Village Institution

Our location at 151 Bleecker Street places us at the center of the city’s most historic cultural corridor. We are located just a short three-minute walk from Washington Square Park and the iconic Washington Square Arch, making us a primary destination for the New York University (NYU) community and West Village residents alike.

We often serve as the anchor for a night out in the neighborhood. Guests frequently join us after a show at the Comedy Cellar or a walk through the historic streets of Greenwich Village, finding their way to our doors for the final, most energetic act of the night. With the West 4th Street transit hub nearby, we are the most accessible home for live music in the district, offering a reliable atmosphere where the music never stops early.
